Fourteen-year-old Edelynn had been deaf and mute since birth. She had learned to communicate by reading lips, but had never heard a sound – not even her own voice.

One evening during one of our festivals in the Philippines, everything changed. As the Gospel was shared and prayer went forth for healing, God touched Edelynn in a powerful way. In that moment, she began to hear.

She and her mother came up on stage to share what had just happened. Her mother confirmed that Edelynn had been deaf and mute her entire life. The team wanted to test what God had done, so John stood behind her and began to clap.

Each time he clapped, Edelynn accurately held up the number of claps, smiling as she realized she could now hear. For the first time in her life, sound broke through silence and Edelynn experienced the love and power of a God who still heals today.
