During one of our discipleship home visits in Chile, we met a young couple and their 4-year-old daughter. The man had grown up in a Jehovah’s Witness family, and the woman was raised in a Catholic home. Neither of them were following those traditions anymore, but they were doing their best to raise their little girl with love and good values.
They had attended our festival. Though they hadn’t prayed the prayer of salvation during the event, they shared with us that they believed what we shared. As we talked, the young mother opened up and said she didn’t feel worthy to receive salvation or God’s grace.
We were able to share the truth of God’s love and that salvation is not something earned, but a gift freely given through Jesus. We explained how He already paid the price for their forgiveness and offers new life to all who believe.
By the end of our visit, both of them were ready. They prayed aloud together, receiving Jesus into their hearts and declaring Him as Lord, a moment we believe will impact their whole family for generations to come.
