A Miracle in the Hospital: How One Woman Found Jesus and Healing

In Thailand this summer, one of our teams shared the Gospel in a hospital. During the healing prayer, a lady sitting in the front spoke up and shared about a black spot she had in her eye for four years, which had caused her vision problems. She shared that the spot was almost gone and exclaimed, “You can pray to God, and just like that it’s gone?!” She was shocked that God had heard us when we prayed.

We asked her if she had heard of Jesus before, and she said, “No.” Then she asked, “But I’m Buddhist, can I serve Jesus?” You see, in Thailand, to be Thai is often synonymous with being Buddhist—it’s a significant part of the culture. She had such innocence and hunger to know more about God. We invited her to our festival.

The next night she hunted us down after the kid’s festival. She had paid to ride a motorcycle taxi to come tell us – Her eye was completely healed! We got her number to give to the church to reach out & disciple her.

Our GV Discipleship Team stayed in the country to train the pastors in discipleship and how to follow up with new believers. They contacted this lady and went to her house! This is what our team shared: It turns out that this lady was at the hospital due to high blood pressure and cholesterol. She’s been on medication for 17 years. She had a black spot in her eye for 4 years, which annoyed her, and she had to use eye drops. The doctors told her there wasn’t anything they could do and that she would never get better.

When she saw the team at the hospital, she said she did everything they asked (praying for salvation and healing), and the issue with her eye was what frustrated her the most. When she left the hospital, there was still a film over her eyes. That night, she remembered the team told her she could pray too, so she did, and when she woke up, the spot was gone!

We shared more about what happened when she received Jesus. We told her that Jesus would heal her heart. She said the doctors had told her there was a possibility she could fall asleep and not wake up one day due to her heart problems, so she was terrified of sleeping and stayed awake by working through the night. After praying for her, we encouraged her to sleep that night and connected her with the local church.

(Here she is reading from her new Bible during one of our team’s visits with her.)
